Since Valentines Day is all about relationships, we thought we’d share a special story of friendship.
Carly and Teddy met while on a weekend trip to the Taconic Outdoor Education Center (TOEC) in August 2016. And they have been enjoying each other’s company ever since.
They had a blast together at Teddy’s prom, held at “Life The Place to Be” in Dobbs Ferry on May 31st, where they danced, ate a great meal, took pictures, and played games in the arcade.
Carly has been part of the Project CHILDD family for most of her life. She started 11 years ago in Project Community’s Sunday Art Center program. While in middle school, she also joined the Friday Teen Night program. In both programs Carly made social connections with other participants, as well as the “buddies,” a group of terrific teen mentors from Pelham and other local high schools and colleges.
In the teen program, Carly had to navigate the social challenges of being with teens that had different social styles, likes and dislikes (not to mention different ideas about which movie to pick to watch after group dinner!). Carly continues to use these skills in her social life as a young adult.
Happy Valentines Day, Carly and Teddy!
And Happy Valentines Day to the entire Project Community family. ❤
