Teen Project CHILDD – Group Home
This special section of Teen Project CHILDD serves teen girls living in group homes, and was established through a partnership with Abbott House. These girls are part of a chronically under-served population. Although they are technically free for adoption, these girls are unlikely to find families because of their age and the impact their troubled home lives have had on their development.
The program focuses on activities that build self-esteem such as art, cooking, movement through dance, gardening, and mindfulness (for stress relief and gaining control over emotions).
Teen Project CHILDD – Group Home:
- Provides teenage girls living in group homes with senior nursing student mentors.
- Builds self-esteem through group discussion.
- Strengthens relationships through group activities.
